The Triple Bottom Line

York Region is developing a path toward sustainable infrastructure based on recommendations from the Towards Sustainability in York Region (TSYR) Advisory Group Report. This report indicates that solutions to growth and development challenges require a ‘triple bottom-line’ sustainability approach.

What is a triple bottom-line?

We measure success by looking at three types of goals: healthy communities, economic vitality, and sustainable natural environment.
We include initiatives that should aim to simultaneously create environmental, social and economic benefits and value.

We emphasize transparency, equity, accountability, community involvement as well as monitoring and continuous improvement toward sustainability.
