Water & Wastewater Master Plan

Getting Involved

We are conducting an integrated planning process in support of Planning for Tomorrow, York Region’s Growth Management Initiative. The Water and Wastewater Master Plan and Transportation Master Plan are being completed in parallel.

York Region is addressing growth by becoming a leader in sustainability planning.  We’ve developed sustainability principles that will guide growth over the next generation.  We’re implementing a bold new vision.  And, we want your ideas on the direction we’ve charted.

Your involvement is an integral part of the Master Plan updates. York Region is encouraging you, your neighbours, and other individuals to become involved in the Water and Wastewater Master Plan and Transportation Master Plan through three rounds of Public Consultation Centres. The purpose of the Public Consultation Centres is to identify issues that should be considered in the Region’s Master Plan studies and to hear your comments about future choices.

In year 2006 we held the First Round of Public Consultation Centres from November 21-23 with three meetings in Aurora, Keswick, and Vaughan.  We also held a joint PCC on April 17, 2007 in Pickering, jointly with Durham Region.

Our Second Round of Public Consultation Centres was held on November 6, 15 and 21, 2007 in East Gwillimbury, Markam and King City.

These PCCs were held concurrently for both Master Plan update studies, gave you an opportunity to review information received to-date, including our Sustainability Principles, Evaluation Criteria, and Preliminary Findings.

Our Third and final round of Public Consultation Centres was held on January 15, 20, 21, and February in Newmarket, Richmond Hill, Whitchurch-Stouffville, and Aurora.

Durham Region Consultation - York Region and Durham Region will be jointly hosting a drop-in style Public Information Centre on September 10, 2009 to discuss the York Region Water and Wastewater Master Plan Update as it relates to the York Durham Sewage System. Information will also be available regarding Durham Region’s Water and Wastewater Master Plan. To view a copy of the Notice of Public Information Centre, please click here [53 kb]
